Palmsvale is: "A post modern toast to a sun drenched satire"

A West Coast city, an unfinished script to a

random bunch of filmmakers to ever exist.

Palmsvale has developed from an idea based in satire, into an illustrated series and now into a short animated series. This 'little world' grew out of a way to deliver jokes, but with a different tone. The heart of the series is based on the illustrations that make up so much of its personality, as well as giving it a certain aesthetic during a certain place in time . It is a poetic and stylish post modern caper. The paperback is being published in early 2024 and is the basis for the animated stories with all of the characters.

Satirical, Absurdist, Original.

From continual popular feedback the work kept evolving. The short story series, which began in 2020 soon developed further until it was a full length book in 2024. Having first-look from several of our biggest fans it has received good reviews . The idea is to grow upon each bit of feedback and create something as close to the original concept that started it all. It will be available in paperback in 2024.

Animated Series

In what became a surprise our fan base kept asking if this could be animated, and to my surprise the answer was 'yes'. Now this is possibly what fans may come to know the community for and this sounds just fine too! At the moment there are 10 episodes (shorts) in production phase. Each reflects the book but in a further 'close-up' view of the characters & the scenes they play in. We have a group of talented voice actors, and an experienced hand at the wheel to finalize these first episodes, so stay tuned!

Set & Style

From an attitude typical of sketch comedy came a style of a more 'life-experienced' way of seeing the world. From burn out to know-it-all the troop of characters houses more of the perspectives of the skeptical folk that make up so much of our world. Fresh & non-linear it is something easy to relate to, all wrapped around a type of mid-century modern appeal.

Illustrations

In what is a troupe of personalities all mashed together into a story the 'Zoo-Crew' came out of minimalism and raw drawing form. The cast of more than a dozen illustrated characters melds & stumbles along in an original path.

Built into a world of the odd & fringe view of what it is like to live in society and have to work with others, the picture that arises is surely one of miscommunication. With this in mind there is value that we can never go it alone.

Anything can fit and one just has to roll with it, each part of Palmsvale is a turn into the absurd.
